Welcome to a Teacher's Voice!

Hi out there! You've been invited to a very special blog. These are the thoughts, opinions, and ideas of a new teacher starting his career in a small, private high school. This year I will be teaching Physics, Algebra 2, Trigonometry & Statistics (it's trig first semester and statistics second semester), and Pre-Calculus. If you've ever read Dr. Wong's First Days of School, you'll know that I'm in the fantasy state. It's where I have all these ideals about how class will be like. I know it's not realistic, but it's okay to dream.

Actually, I'm quite nervous right now. I'm excited that the school year is about to begin but nervous about creating a curriculum that will work. I'm going to write my first lesson plans tonight and share them with the Vice Principal. Hopefully there won't be too many changes. I am praying that this will work out and the God will give me the strength to work hard.

I'm also trying to decorate my room with cool mathematics things, but so far the walls have been rather barren. It's definitely a challenge for me, but some of the other teachers have given me advice about where to shop. I know that the teachers here are supporting me, but sometimes its hard to have the right questions to ask. There is no training program, or induction program, but I'm sure I will learn nonetheless. I've done it before at my previous employer, and I will do it again here. Sure I will make mistakes but I have to learn from them.

Hopefully this blog will be inspirational and helpful. It sure helps me to write things out sometimes instead of keeping it all in my head. I'll try to post things on here weekly but sometimes it might be longer or shorter before I post again. I'll try not to get all mushy, gushy but rather give you my thoughts and opinions about how being a first year teacher feels like. Then if I get hired back, how a second year teacher feels like and so forth.

So come along with me on a journey...
